1. Volunteering at Orrell RUFC

Successful rugby clubs are more than just victorious teams on the pitch. Players and coaches are vitally important but so are the many dedicated volunteers who work hard behind the scenes to help the club function.

Each season it's a challenge for any grass roots club both on and off the field to meet the demands that each and every match day brings (and all the work that goes on behind the scenes. The kit doesn't wash itself; the website isn't updated; social media isn't posted; fixtures are not made ....... without our volunteers.

Why volunteer?
Everyone is busy be it at work, with family or just life in general; so finding time to volunteer can be hard and we appreciate that. That's why we say, just come along and let us know how you'd like to get involved or how you can help - you may have a vital skill that would help our club grow and develop or maybe you could just sell programmes for an hour on match days or serve tea and coffee at one of our events. It doesn't matter to us how much time or commitment you make - just come along and join us. Apart from the more the merrier - even an hour's volunteering can be vital to the future of our club.

Don't forget giving to others is also good for your own personal well -being. It can reduce stress, combat depression, keep you mentally stimulated, and provide a sense of purpose. Volunteering doesn’t have to involve a long-term commitment or take a huge amount of time out of your busy day.

Volunteering introduces you to new people.
Even helping out with the smallest tasks can make a real difference and it can benefit you and your family as much as the club you choose to help. Dedicating your time as a volunteer helps you make new friends, expand your network, and boost your social skills.

Make new friends and contacts
One of the best ways to make new friends and strengthen existing relationships is to do something together or join a new club. Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, especially if you are new to an area.

Increase your social skills
While some people are naturally outgoing, others are shy and have a hard time meeting new people. Volunteering gives you the opportunity to practice and develop your social skills, since you are meeting regularly with a group of people with common interests. Once you have done it once, it is then to branch out and make more friends and contacts.

There's lots of opportunities so, get in touch, let us know if you'd like to get involved. We're a friendly, community, family orientated club - so bring along all the members of the family - you'd be very welcome!
