Celebrating our Volunteers

Celebrating our Volunteers

tracy monckton5 Jun 2020 - 13:21

Thank You to each and every one of our Volunteers! We couldn't do it without you!

Volunteer Week

Over the last week or so, we have been celebrating what a great season the Club and all our teams had last season – even if it did end unexpectedly. We haven’t finished yet and have still to celebrate our open age teams’ successes ……

However, we couldn’t let Volunteer Week 2020 pass without saying thank you and celebrating our Club Volunteers.

You probably know that our Club is run and managed by volunteers – everyone who works hard to make our Club what it is today, including our President, the Director of Rugby, the Executive Team, our Coaches and team managers for our Minis, Juniors, Girls and Open Age teams and even the people who pull the pints on a Saturday ..... and everyone in between - are all volunteers!

Volunteers’ Week is an annual celebration of the contribution millions of people make across the UK through volunteering. Although the coronavirus pandemic has stopped many of the things we would usually do – like play rugby – our Club volunteers are still very much hard at work getting things ready for the new season (and we’ll let you know when that will be). Our Director of Rugby Paul Wingfield will be updating you all on the work he and his team of volunteers are doing now to get the rugby side of things ready.

So, why is volunteering important?
Well, apart from the fact that we couldn't run the Club without them - as well as helping others, volunteering has been shown to improve volunteers' well being too. It’s human nature to feel good after helping someone out. Volunteering can also help you gain valuable new skills and experiences and boost your confidence.

So a huge thank you to all our Volunteers, no matter what you do, whether it’s a big job or a small job – something you do every day or something you do just once a year – we are very grateful for your help and friendship.

If you would like to help out volunteering at our great Club, then please check out the link on our website Volunteering at Orrell RUFC

You don’t have to volunteer for any particular role; you may have a skill we can use or maybe you just simply want to help out?

Whatever you would like to do, we’d be happy to meet you and get you involved in our Club!
