A true gentleman of rugby and our great club, a great friend both on and off the field. He thought the world of Orrell and Orrell thought the world of him. He achieved a great deal in rugby but cruel spinal injuries robbed him of full caps. He will always remain a special part of this club.

Phil Moss was part of Orrell RUFC when the club was one of the strongest clubs in the country. He captained the club, having learned the basics of the game at Rydal School in Colwyn Bay.

Honours include Lancashire Cup winner and representative Lancashire County, North Division, North of England, England U23s, England B and was selected on the bench for the full England team.

Mossy was a wonderful club man, welcoming, inclusive, and good fun off and on the pitch. Injuries cut short his playing career and Phil then turned to coaching and became a successful forwards coach with Mark Nelson, Mike Slemen and Sammy Southern.
