On Saturday, the Club was delighted to announce that the 2003 World Cup winner and member of the legendary England back row, Neil Back MBE has agreed to speak at the dinner on Thursday, 8th March. We are even more delighted to announce that club sponsor & long-time friend of Orrell RUFC, Dr John Morgan of Bucket & Sponge, will be our first sponsor of the event.
So, who is Dr John Morgan/Bucket and Sponge and why does he support Orrell RUFC? Some of you will know Bucket and Sponge as our medical services/physio provider on a game day; but did you know that Bucket and Sponge Medical Services have been providing medical services to Orrell RUFC for the past 7 seasons – in fact - since the business was established!
Prior to that, since 2001, Dr John Morgan, Clinical Director of Bucket and Sponge Medical Services, has been involved with the Club providing his services as Club Doctor to Orrell through both our amateur and professional eras.
Dr Morgan said: “It has been an honour and privilege to support such a great club like Orrell RUFC and long may it continue".
Well known in the world of sport, Dr John has acted as Physician to Lancashire Rugby Union and is the current doctor of Orrell Rugby Union Club, and of the Ireland National rugby team. Dr John is a Fellow of the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine of the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland and The Royal College of Physicians in Ireland. The award was made to mark his outstanding contribution to sports and exercise medicine. Dr John has a interest in the prevention, conditioning and rehabilitation of the injuries of sports people. He loves sports medicine practice because of patients’ high expectations of themselves, their strong work ethic, and their persistence in pursuing their goals.
The club is absolutely delighted that Dr John/Bucket & Sponge will be sponsoring our Sports Dinner and, over the coming weeks, we will be telling you more about Bucket and Sponge and their involvement with the Club and our other sponsors.
