8. Orrell RUFC Safeguarding Policy

Safeguarding Policy.

Orrell & Winstanley Community Sports Club Rugby Section (known as Orrell RUFC) is committed to the safeguarding and protection of young people.

Under the RFU Child Protection Policy and implementation procedures (see RFU Safeguarding Policy document), all staff and volunteers within the Orrell & Winstanley Community Sports Club Rugby Section (known as Orrell RUFC), who have substantial access to young people under the age of 18 and/or vulnerable adults must apply for disclosure.

This process, which is a mandatory requirement, will be facilitated on behalf of the game, both amateur and professional by the RFU who are registered with the Disclosure and Barring Services (DBS).

All coaches, Child Protection officers, Conditioning staff, Welfare officers, Development and performance staff, players conducting RU development activities, First Aiders, Physiotherapists, team managers & support staff, assistant managers and match official will require an enhanced disclosure. [NB: This list is not exhaustive and may change/be added to as per RFU guidelines & procedures].

The Rugby Section (Orrell RUFC) Safeguarding Officer is currently Graham Winstanley (as of the date of this document) whose contact details can be found on the Contact Us page of the website.

If anyone has any concerns or issues relating to safeguarding within the rugby section (or the Club as a whole), please contact Graham in the first instance.

A Place We All Want to Be.- the Orrell & Winstanley Community Club Joint Venture
Orrell RUFC is a founding member of the Orrell & Winstanley Community Sports Club; a joint venture with Winstanley Park Cricket Club to develop a much-needed community sports & wellbeing facility on a 13-acre site on Winstanley Road in Orrell.

Our Vision is to be a hub at the heart of the community used by all ages, offering a range of participation sports, health and wellbeing activities or just for personal social interaction to be used and enjoyed by all the community 7 days a week A Place We All Want to Be.

Our mission is to develop a community health hub that will develop from one that offers participation in the amateur sport of rugby and cricket to one that includes a range of other sporting and wellbeing activities; to engage with the community to improve physical and mental health and provides a place where people can be active and provide facilities where the community members can meet socially, can relax and unwind – an all-inclusive centre for the community.
